Markets Around Chacala

In Mexico the open air street markets are called “tiangues”.

Along the Nayarit coast, the market in Las Varas is on a Friday but the largest local market is on Thursdays at La Peñita.

In Playa Chacala there is a small artisan market on Saturday mornings on the plaza and an organic market at Chris’ garage.

For a more extensive organic/artisan market visit La Cruz on Sunday morning.

Popular products to buy are the wonderful fresh produce, ceramics and hand crafted jewellery and beaded work by one of the indigenous mountain people, the Huichol, who dress in brightly embroidered clothes.
