The Chacala Nayarit coast offers a host of transportation options.
To get from Playa Chacala to the nearest town (Las Varas) take the “colectivo” which is a minivan taxi service costing 15 pesos. The minivan leaves every 20 minutes or so from Chacala’s small plaza by the main beach. The journey time is about 20 minutes to reach Las Varas which has an ATM, bank and various shops and restaurants. It is an inland ranching community and is most definitely an authentic experience!
From Las Varas you can take another minivan to La Peñita, very popular on market day which is Thursday, or you can get to other destinations both inland and up and down the Nayarit coast by the national coach service, the Pacifico.
Puerto Vallarta is about an hour and a half away by coach and costs 140 pesos each way, leaving every 20 minutes from the main bus terminal.
Alternatively, if you want a door to door service for your holiday excursions, book a trip with Chacala’s Trini and Cundo, They are residents who are bilingual in Spanish and English. They can also be booked to collect you from the airport and return you there in comfort at the end of your stay.
