Restaurants
Playa Chacala has a string of beach front restaurants starting with Mingo’s which was
established an incredible 90 years ago!
In 2002 Hurricane Kenna, which was the second-most intense
Pacific hurricane to strike the state of Nayarit’s west coast of Mexico in recorded history.
It wiped out the palapa covered restaurants on Playa Chacala main beach. The restaurants have since been rebuilt and include Chacala’s Choc Mool, Isidro’s, Las Brisas and Chico’s and others.
Across the road from the beach is the pizzeria, run by two young Playa Chacala entrepreneurs and Koko Bongos, often used for fundraising events for the Chacala Cambiando Vidas scholarship program (link to philanthropic page).
At the far south end of Playa Chacala’s is own tapas bar with sun loungers and the beautiful Majahua restaurant, which offers Spanish specialties like paella. Also at this end of the Chacala Bay is Mar de Jade, a retreat center that also offers fine dining in a tropical environment, with a Cuban band playing weekly.
